How the hand check works

The hand check turns one photo into a hand analysis - without an account, without an upload and without a file being stored anywhere. It takes less than a second because all processing happens on your device.

  1. Photograph your palm: hold it open and relaxed, good light, remove rings.
  2. Choose a photo: from your device or directly via camera - the analysis runs in the browser.
  3. Start the analysis: in seconds you get your hand type and the detailed evaluation.

How to take a good hand photo

The quality of your result depends almost entirely on the photo, not on the technology. Five rules are enough for a clean evaluation:

  • Bright background: put your hand on a light, single-colour cloth. Contrast between skin and background makes detection much more reliable.
  • Hold still: your hand should stay still during the shot. Motion blur is the most common reason for a failed detection.
  • Spread your fingers: slightly spread and straight - not tense. That places the joints where the model expects them.
  • Palm facing up: the back of the hand works less well. If in doubt, simply take a second photo - both are free.
  • JPG instead of HEIC: iPhone photos in HEIC format cannot be read by many browsers - export as JPG or use a screenshot.

What the analysis recognises

At its core is an AI model that finds up to 21 marked points on a photo - knuckles, joints and fingertips. From these points the tool computes eight measurable values and derives the classical interpretation.

The eight measured values in detail

Because a lot is released here that sounds like a black box: these are the quantities the result is built from - and what they say.

1. Palm width to palm length determines the basic shape. A high value means a wide, angular palm; a low value a slender one.

2. Finger length to palm length separates airy from compact hands. Long fingers suggest the Air type, short ones Earth.

3. The 2D:4D ratio compares index and ring finger length (from the base joint to the tip). Below 0.97 the ring finger is longer, above 1.00 the index finger - the thresholds are deliberately rough.

4. The thumb angle measures flexibility at the thumb joint. A wide angle stands for adaptability, a narrow one for caution and structure.

5. Finger spread tells whether you act in the foreground or hold back.

6. The heart-line curve is estimated from the curvature of the palm - an approximation.

7. The life-line arch describes how far the life line sweeps around the thumb pad - a geometric approximation, not a pattern read from the image.

8. Handedness comes from the model; the report shows which hand was detected.

An honest note: the middle finger is the longest for almost everyone - which is why it is deliberately not counted when determining the "longest finger". Otherwise you would get a fake insight on every second hand.

What the analysis cannot do

A tool that claims to do everything is usually worthless. These limits are important - and they are why we deliberately label the result as entertainment:

  • No predictions. The hand check does not say whether you will win the lottery. It describes tendencies, not events.
  • No health diagnosis. No statements about illness, fertility or life expectancy - that would be medically untenable.
  • No expert reports. A hand analysis is not legal or financial advice.
  • No reading of palm lines. The model sees joints, not creases. Line readings are approximations.

Your data stays with you

The hand check works client-side. The model that detects the hand is loaded directly into your browser and computes there. The photo travels over no server, is stored nowhere and is gone after reloading the page. We run no image database - and that is not a marketing promise but the architecture.

What the page does load is the analysis model itself (about 17 MB, once, from our own server, then in the browser cache). Details on everything technical are in our privacy policy.

Frequently asked questions

Is the hand analysis scientific?

The measurement is, the interpretation is not. The AI measures objectively measurable features such as hand proportions, finger lengths and angles - that is pure geometry. The interpretation itself comes from traditional palmistry and is entertainment, not science and not advice.

Which hand should I photograph?

One hand is enough to start. As a rule of thumb, the active hand (the right one for right-handers) shows the here and now, the passive one shows predisposition. You can also analyse both hands one after the other and compare - the results usually differ only in nuances.

How is the hand type calculated?

From the ratio of palm width to palm length and of finger length to palm length. The two values and the angularity of the palm produce the assignment to Earth, Air, Fire or Water - the way classical palmistry has done it for centuries.

What does the hand analysis cost?

Nothing. The hand check is free, without registration and without an account.

Does the analysis work for left-handers?

Yes. The analysis works equally well with both hands; the active/passive assignment follows your writing hand.

What happens to my photo?

Your photo never leaves your device. The analysis runs entirely in your browser - no upload to a server, no storage, no tracking pixels. No image is written to our disk.

Why does the AI sometimes not detect my hand?

Usually it is the photo: too dark, too much movement, the hand is not fully in frame or fingers hide each other. If in doubt, take two or three shots - every analysis is free.

Are my palm lines visible in the photo?

No, and that is intentional. The lines are not read from the image; they are approximated geometrically from the 21 measured hand points. If your hand is in shadow, that matters less than you think.

Can I run several analyses?

Yes, as often as you like - with different hands, photos or at different times. There is no limit and nothing to delete.

Why does my iPhone (HEIC) photo not work?

HEIC/HEIF is the standard format of newer iPhones - many browsers cannot read it directly. Export the photo as JPG or take a screenshot. On iPhone, Settings > Camera > Formats > "Most Compatible" helps.

Why does the first analysis take a moment?

On the first step your browser downloads the AI model (about 17 MB) once from our server; after that it sits in the browser cache and the analysis starts immediately. That keeps the page fast for everyone who only wants to read.
